System Developer for the IT Unit at Brå

Brå's mission is to promote crime prevention through development, research, and knowledge dissemination, primarily to the government and authorities within the criminal justice system. Our office is located on Fleminggatan in central Stockholm. We currently have about 200 employees.

About the Job

We are now looking for a system developer for our development team in the IT unit. The main tasks are to develop new functionality and improve existing systems built in Java EE, together with the development team. We handle a lot of data, and a large part of the development involves integration with other authorities within the criminal justice system. Our development is conducted agilely with Scrum alongside business specialists, solution architects, and system developers from other authorities.

Our development team is responsible for the entire lifecycle from new development and further development to management. A day with us can include everything from participating in workshops with the business regarding new needs, developing new functionality, to fixing a bug causing problems in production.

Brå is in a growth phase and has a strong focus on digitalization and developing our IT solutions, where you as a system developer have an important role with great opportunities to influence.

Your Education and Experience

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A degree in computer science or a similar academic education in the field, or other education/experience that Brå considers equivalent
  • At least 5 years of work experience in system development within Java EE or Jakarta EE
  • Experience with databases such as Oracle and PostgreSQL
  • Experience with agile development and agile methods such as Scrum or Kanban
  • Good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing
  • Good knowledge of English, both orally and in writing.

Experience in development within statistics and the criminal justice system, as well as microservices, integrations, frontend development with JavaScript, React, or Angular, and presentation of statistics, for example with PxWeb, is meritorious. Furthermore, experience with Apache POI, Apache NiFi, and Apache Camel is also meritorious.

It is also advantageous if you have a certification in Java or Scrum.

As a person, you are used to working independently but also possess the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with your colleagues. You are a good problem solver and can break down complex problems into manageable parts. In this role, it is also important that you have an agile mindset and adapt it according to Brå's conditions.

Employment Conditions
